What are your New Year resolutions for 2022? How would you like to add one that inspires young people's career choices, supports your local school, and gives you that feel good factor knowing you are supporting your local community and the next generation of talent in Greater Lincolnshire?
With the launch of the Careers Hub in September 2021, the Greater Lincolnshire Enterprise Adviser Network continues to thrive across the area, bringing together business and education to support careers programmes in schools and colleges for young people.
There are now over 90 individuals – our army of Enterprise Advisers - who volunteer to work with schools and colleges from over 70 different businesses.
The Careers and Enterprise Company recently published evidence proving the higher quality careers provision a young person receives in school or college, the more likely they are to be engaged in employment, education, or training when they leave school. At the heart of high-quality careers education is engagement with employers and local businesses and the benefits of engaging with students and teachers speak for themselves. As well as promoting improved visibility and awareness of your organisation or industry, this is also creating a new talent pipeline for your business, gives your staff the chance to develop their skills and give something back to their local community, whilst also raising aspirations and attainment in schools.
The Greater Lincolnshire LEP team supports businesses to deliver workshops and presentations, take part in mock interview days and provide mentoring opportunities for young people. With new, virtual ways of working, the team can support you to engage with schools in a creative and meaningful way.
Become an Enterprise Adviser
Enterprise Advisers are “matched” to a local school and work with the Senior Leadership team to improve careers provision for young people. In recent months, Enterprise Advisers have been able to affect change in schools by sharing their skills as strategic leaders. On a practical level, Enterprise Advisers have been able to support schools by opening up a new network of employer and business contacts, allowing young people to access work experience opportunities and discover more about the world of work in their local area. All volunteers receive full training and support from a dedicated Enterprise Coordinator in the LEP team. Find out more at Rewrite the Story (careersandenterprise.co.uk)

Volunteers register to receive opportunities to volunteer in schools by delivering workshops, attending careers fairs and supporting young people directly. There is no set time commitment expected for this opportunity, however our volunteers say that presenting in schools and colleges is hugely rewarding and allows the individual to promote their business and sector opportunities.
