The first ever Greater Lincolnshire LEP Business Summit on 12th October 2012 attracted firms from across the region to Market Rasen Racecourse.

High on the agenda was the launch of the LEP’s three-year business plan, but delegates also heard about the body’s progress so far: £9 million of funding secured by the LEP to bring forward vital infrastructure projects such as transport improvements or flood defences, details of a £14.3 million project to upgrade Greater Lincolnshire with next-generation broadband and support for the Port of Grimsby Enterprise Zone.

The Chair of the National LEP Network, David Frost CBE, DL, spoke to the audience on the role of LEPs in their local economies and answered questions from the floor, while representatives spearheading the Market Rasen Portas Pilot bid also gave a talk on their success so far.

Ursula Lidbetter MBE, Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, said: “The Business Summit was a chance for us to let people know the work we’ve been doing on their behalf and what we plan to do in the future.  It also gave people an opportunity to ask us questions.

“There was a very healthy turnout at the event and we’ve been pleased with the feedback we’ve had so far to our business plan.”
