RAF Waddington played host to the highly anticipated Industry Day 2024, which took place on 26th September.
The annual event brought together key stakeholders from the defence and aerospace industries, highlighting the RAF's commitment to fostering collaboration and exploring cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational effectiveness.
The theme of this year’s Industry Day was ‘battlefield advantage and the changing face of warfare’. Senior officials from the RAF emphasised the importance of working closely with industry leaders to drive modernisation and ensure the UK remains at the forefront of defence capabilities.
The event welcomed over 100 industry representatives, including firms specialising in aerospace technology, cybersecurity, and logistics. Exhibitors showcased their latest advancements, from autonomous systems and advanced radar technologies to training solutions designed to prepare personnel for modern combat environments.
One of the highlights of the day was a series of presentations featuring prominent figures from both the RAF and the private sector.
Industry leaders discussed the importance of developing a robust supply chain to support the RAF's fleet modernisation programmes. Enhancing manufacturing capabilities and ensuring technology transfer were highlighted as crucial factors in achieving operational excellence.
The RAF Waddington Industry Day 2024 not only highlighted the advancements within the defence sector but also reinforced the crucial role of collaboration between military and industry in achieving a secure and sustainable future. This was recognised by the numbers of Greater Lincolnshire Regional Defence & Security Cluster (GLRDSC) members in attendance.
The GLRDSC is an industry-led forum that unites national and international defence organisations, manufacturers, and experts in research, development, and innovation. Its mission is to address sector challenges and identify business opportunities within Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland.
