Our annual conference on 12th July was a great success.

Businesses should work together across a range of sectors to make the most of Lincolnshire’s emerging opportunities – that was the message from our annual conference on 12th July.

Almost 500 people attended the event at the Lincolnshire Showground, where 25 leading experts from a variety of sectors took part in animated and far-reaching discussions on Lincolnshire’s emerging opportunities.

The LEP also unveiled its Annual Report (see below) and launched a call for new funding bids and an Energy Strategy for Greater Lincolnshire.

The LEP is asking Greater Lincolnshire businesses to come forward and submit funding bids of £250,000 or more to support their major projects.

We expect more money to be made available soon by the Government through the new Shared Prosperity Fund and we want to have a pipeline of projects ready.

Our Energy Strategy sets out a vision for sustainable energy production and use across Greater Lincolnshire.

It is the result of extensive consultation and research by the LEP and its local authority partners and will support the creation of a sustainable system of energy which meets Greater Lincolnshire’s need for energy now and in the future.

The four ambitions expressed in the strategy are:

  • Secure low-cost, low-carbon energy across Greater Lincolnshire
  • Commercial and residential development in capacity-constrained areas
  • A sustainable transport system
  • A strengthened local energy industry within Greater Lincolnshire

Other highlights at the conference included a series of expert panel discussions and keynote speeches by our Chair, Ursula Lidbetter OBE, and Susannah Streeter, a former RAF Squadron Leader and now anchor and presenter for BBC Business News.

“It was fantastic to hear such renowned experts in their fields discussing our emerging opportunities in such an insightful and constructive way,” said Ursula.

“The energy in the room was palpable throughout. These panel discussions have become the hallmark of our annual conference and it’s clear that many of the important conversations we began will be continuing outside of the conference.

“On Friday we had our biggest ever attendance, a record number of expert panels and panellists and some very high-quality exhibitors. The feedback we’ve had so far has been excellent and I’d like to thank everyone who attended and all those who helped to organise this fabulous conference.”

Susannah Streeter said: “It was inspiring to see just how much enthusiasm and determination there is to ensure Greater Lincolnshire doesn’t just succeed but provides national leadership at at a very challenging economic time.”
