North East Lincolnshire Council will be awarded over £18 million for a transformational regeneration of Cleethorpes seafront. This includes rejuvenating Cleethorpes' historic market square and regenerating Pier Gardens. Read more here.
Barton-upon-Humber in North Lincolnshire Council's area will receive almost £20 million for transport improvements around the town. The changes include improvements to the A1077 to alleviate congestion in the town centre, 14km of new cycle lanes, and mass improvements to the railway station including new cycle parking, an extension of the car park, and bus shelter upgrades. Another successful bidder was Boston Borough Council which has secured £14 million for the Rosegarth Square Masterplan to create a new urban park in the heart of Boston to boost residents' health and wellbeing. Read more here.
£20 million is heading to City of Lincoln Council to build two bridges to run across the East Midlands Railway track. This will provide an essential direct route for hundreds of households to the city centre and ease traffic congestion. The Western Growth Corridor will also include 3,200 homes and space for retail and other businesses. Read more here.
£8 million for East Lindsey District Council will save three of the Lincolnshire Wolds’ most at-risk heritage and cultural sites. This includes Alford Manor House, a Grade II listed building which will be brought back to life as part of a community visitor complex and Alford’s only remaining windmill, which will be brought back into commercial use as part of a community complex. In Spalding £20 million from the Levelling Up fund for South Holland District Council will revamp the Castle Sports Complex site and create the South Holland Health and Wellbeing Hub to inspire people to be active and healthy. The funding will pay for a new swimming pool, a floodlit football pitch and a multi-use games area. Read more here:
Rutland County Council has secured nearly £23m for a new outdoor food market and event space in iconic food town Melton Mowbray and to update the Rutland County Museum to create a digital visitor experience. Read more here.
To date Greater Lincolnshire has benefited from £142,887,109 from the Levelling Up Fund –£29,833,658 in round one and £113,053,451 in round two.
This can be broken down into the following categories:
- Regeneration (revitalising towns and cities to unlock the potential for new housing and to transform places): £60,686,897
- Cultural (restoring heritage to protect local landmarks for generations to come, rejuvenate areas and create cultural destinations): £22,938,370
- Transport (improving transport links to reduce congestion, improve access, release investment opportunities and support local businesses while providing a lifeline for communities, visitors and supply chains): £59,261,842
