Over 300 delegates and exhibitors attended LEP Business Live at the Lincolnshire Showground on Friday 23rd October.

Guest speaker Jas Hawker, a former Red Arrows team leader, gave business advice to listeners based on his experience of leading a world-class aerobatics team.

He said a team ethic is more important to the role of a Red Arrows pilot than technical flying ability.

“Core skills are not the point of difference when it comes to recruiting new pilots,” he said. “It’s the ability of people on the team to find the team agenda, to be team players.”

He also recommended that businesses conduct debriefings to identify things that go wrong and how performance can be improved.

“Debriefings are the single most powerful tool in improving the performance of the Red Arrows,” he said.

“To fail to debrief is to commit as a team to making the same mistakes over and over again.”

Earlier Ursula Lidbetter MBE, Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, summarised a year of success for the LEP and highlighted the £146m of Growth Deal money which is being invested in Greater Lincolnshire.

She also announced the official launch of the Business Lincolnshire Growth Hub, a new free service for businesses looking for support and advice in Greater Lincolnshire.

The event featured round-table discussions, networking opportunities and a dedicated exhibition area with industry zones covering property, finance, energy, digital, business and skills.
