Have Your Say on Plans for Food Enterprise Zone
NewsPeople in West Lindsey are being asked to give their views in a consultation on plans to develop a Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) at Hemswell Cliff.
West Lindsey District Council and the Greater Lincolnshire LEP are advancing plans for the FEZ with the support of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
Seventeen Food Enterprise Zones were announced by the Government in 2015, and three of them are in Greater Lincolnshire – more than any other LEP area.
In the third round of Growth Deal funding announced earlier this month £6.5 million was earmarked for Greater Lincolnshire’s three Food Enterprise Zones in Holbeach, Hemswell Cliff and Grimsby.
The investment will support infrastructure and services to accelerate the development of the three zones, creating employment land and enabling key buildings specifically designed to support the growth and expansion of Greater Lincolnshire’s agrifood clusters.
Food Enterprise Zones are intended to attract investment and encourage closer ties between food and farming businesses to boost the domestic food and farming sector.
As part of the consultation process West Lindsey District Council is inviting people to give their views on the plans, which can be viewed here. Hard copies are available on request at The Guildhall, Marshall's Yard, Gainsborough and at Hemswell Cliff Post Office.
You can also submit your comments by emailing planning.customer.care@west-lindsey.gov.uk or by writing to The Guildhall, Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire DN21 2NA, quoting application reference number 135866.
The consultation period runs until Friday 14th April.
