Greater Lincolnshire has been awarded £93.1 million to help create jobs and boost skills.

Earlier today, Local Growth and Northern Powerhouse Minister James Wharton announced the share Greater Lincolnshire will receive from the 2014 to 2020 round of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the European Social Fund.

The money will be used to provide training schemes, support innovation, and enable economic development projects, such as the creation of much-needed business premises and other infrastructure. 

The money was first announced by the Government in 2013 and will be awarded to local organisations to fund projects which will deliver growth and jobs.

Pat Doody, Chair of Greater Lincolnshire’s local European funding partnership, said: “The Greater Lincolnshire LEP’s plan for growth is driven by the needs of our businesses and community.

“The funds this area is getting from the new ERDF programme will play an important and strategic part in delivering on our ambitions. Having agreed the local priorities for using these funds and moving our economy forward, we can now get on with investing it in the best projects that deliver growth and jobs in Greater Lincolnshire.”

Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at Lincolnshire County Council and Greater Lincolnshire LEP Board Member, added: "We are delighted to receive confirmation from the Government of this funding which will support economic development and in turn help small businesses to grow.

“It will have a real impact on the lives of people living in Greater Lincolnshire and the surrounding towns and villages as it will create much-needed jobs and opportunities for training which will result in a better quality of life for all.”
