The Rural Policy Group, a think tank specialising in the rural and agrifood agendas, held its annual conference online and in person in London on the 18th May.

The Sustainable Food Report 2022 launched alongside the conference features a case study on Greater Lincolnshire.

The Conference featured a series of panel discussions with Martin Collison of the UK Food Valley team speaking in the first panel about investment in the Greater Lincolnshire food sector and how the model used to support growth in Lincolnshire is supporting the industry.

The report shows that in the last six years, £5 billion has been invested in the Greater Lincolnshire food chain, 50% in major new projects (over 130 projects of £1m or more), with the other 50% being invested by business in their routine upgrading of machinery, equipment and buildings.

Prof Louise Manning, of the Lincoln Institute of AgriFood Technology (LIAT) spoke in the second panel session at the conference on The Internet of Things and how it may impact the agriculture and food sector.
