FruitCast has secured £2.8 million in a recent funding round as it continues to expand and develop its technology.

Based at the Barclays Eagle Lab at Riseholme, Fruitcast is a spinout from the University of Lincoln, which also received investment from CERES AgriTech.

In 2022, Fruitcast received an initial investment of £520,000 from Ceres Agritech to develop its technology and assemble a team of experts.

This latest funding will enable FruitCast to launch in 2024 as a subscription service, expanding its scope to cover various crops beyond soft fruits. The funding came from private investors, including Ceres Agritech, and support from Innovate UK's investor partnership programme.

FruitCast's technology relies on AI-enabled data analytics and yield forecasting, offering precise predictions for labour and market planning up to six weeks in advance.  The service aims to help growers optimise their operations and increase profit margins while reducing waste.
