APPG SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN AGRICULTURE MEETING FEATURES UK FOOD VALLEY ENTREPRENEUR
On the same day as the launch event for the 30:50:50 vision document for an innovation agenda for UK Agriculture, the APPG for Agri-Science and Technology held a meeting which featured five businesses with innovative agri-tech solutions, including Robin Watchhorn of Riseholme based Recycled Crop Nutrients (RCN).
RCN was formed just four years ago to build on Robin’s long career in the fertiliser sector, with the aim to develop new renewable fertilisers from waste materials in the food, agriculture and industrial sectors. Based in the Eagle Lab at Riseholme, the business is expanding quickly with support from the Eagle Lab and through collaborative R&D projects with multiple partners in industry and at the University of Lincoln.
Selling its products under the brand name of Smartfert, the business uses a wide range of carbon and byproducts to create low carbon, sustainable and cost effective fertilisers which improve crop and soil performance, as the industry seeks to reduce its carbon footprint to meet ambitious Net Zero goals.
